I'm feeling a little frustrated with the whole blogging thing atm! So hence the reason for my little absence. I'm still not up to writting about the day to day stuff, but i promise it wont be long before i'm back in full swing
I did thought i'd pop in and put up my Scraploot Layouts. Not all of them are up on the site but i'm sure Sue and Craig wont mind me putting them on here.

i've been tagged too by my gorgeous friend Tracy, but that will also have to wait till next time.

i know... twice in one day

i just received this email from a friend of mine and i just thought it was so nice that i wanted to remember it in case i deleted it in my inbox. Plus i feel like sharing........

The Price of a Child

I have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It's nice.

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140.00 for a middle income family. Talk about price shock - That doesn't even touch uni tuition and child care expenses and any medical attention. Simple day to day living requirements.

But $160,140.00 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into:

* $8,896.66 a year,
* $741.38 a month, or
* $171.08 a week.
* That's a mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be "rich". Actually, it is just the opposite.

What do you get for your $160,140.00?

* Naming rights. First, middle and last!
* Glimpses of God every day.
* Giggles under the covers every night.
* More love than your heart can hold.
* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.
* A partner for blowing bubbles and flying kites.
* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.

For $160,140.00, you never have to grow up. You get to:

* finger-paint,
* carve pumpkins,
* play hide-and-seek,
* catch lightning bugs, and
* never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to:

* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
* watch Saturday morning cartoons,
* go to Disney movies, and
* wish on stars.
* You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For a mere $24.24 a day, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for:

* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
* taking the training wheels off a bike,
* removing a splinter,
* filling a wading pool,
* coaxing a wad of gum out of hair and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

You get a front row seat in history to witness the:

* first step,
* first word,
* first bra,
* first date, and
* first time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great grandchildren. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications and human sexuality that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.
That is quite a deal for the price.

Love & enjoy your children and grandchildren.

It's the best investment you'll ever make!

ALL in ALL, a pretty good deal.

i'm a dag and i dont CARE!!!!

Yep that's right!!!
Before christmas i was all excited because i ordered the 1st season's of Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210. I was a HUGE Melrose fan, don;t think i ever missed an episode and for the past 7 years i've had my name on a waiting list on Amazon.com for the word it was being released. Well excitment plus in my household when i found out it was available. Anthony and the kids thought i was even nuttier than before, lol.

So they arrived at work before christmas and no one told me, so when i went ot work on Saturday i picked them, and that night i watch about 6 hours of Beverly Hills. I know a contradiction to what I said above, but i'd already hired Melrose for the vid shop across the road, lol.

So today is a quiet day, the kids are in the playroom with me PAINTING!!!! i don't cope well with my kids painting, that's what kindies and school are for, lol.
I thought i might attempt to do a bit of scrapping, but i'm liable to get side tracked again. There's even a lo ready to go all picked out laying on the dining room table, just no motivation to do. Plus i pulled out the knitting again, which probably doesn't help the mojo.
The kids are now finished their masterpieces and are harrassing for colouring in off the net. So that's me off to find some spongebob.

back to normality

doesn't it suck??????
Yep, we all started back at work this week, both Anthony and myself.
I've been off now for 5 weeks cause i was sick before Christmas and then had 3 weeks off over the Christmas break. So it was a little weird going in today. And then to find out that I was going to be alone all day made me feel quite cranky to say the least. I still haven't gotten used to the new computer software (it is that full on it's not funny) and then they added all these passwords and stuff before you can serve a customer, and quite frankly the customer doesn't not want to stand there for 2 minutes while i type in my pasword, then there phone number then their password which i always spell wrong cause you can;t hear them, you can't understand them blah blah blah. Being school holidays and video shop can get quite busy even on beautiful days like today. But i managed, nothing that i would have like to have done got done, but you get that.

Shanice and Connor spent the day with my mum. They conned nanny into to taking them over to Dawns for a swim in the big pool, which they love. It has this huge slippery dip in the deep end which Shanice thinks is wonderful.
Shancie is staying at mum's tonight for a special sleepover and then tomorrow Connor and I will go up cause we're off to the Circus tomorrow night at Gosford which should be fun. The kids love going and haven't been for 3 years i think.

Here's a piccie that i took while down at Tracy's on monday. And yes sheree i will email it to you, lol.

can't sleep............

what is wrong with me? i can't sleep!!!!!!!! i'm so over tired it's just not funny but it gets to 1 - 2 o'clock in the morning and i'm sitting in bed wide awake. it doesn't help because i'm awake i keep anthony awake either, especially when he has to get up at 5am to go to work - whoops!
well me and kids are off down to tracy's to day for a visit. kaitlyn is down there too have a lil holiday. don't know how sheree managed that one, lol. I hope it doesn't rain.

I have to call in at Sue's on my way down to drop off a stack of lo's i've done for Scraploot. That's certainly kept me busy over the past few days while Ant's been down at the nat's (Summernats). I hope my kids behave while we're there.

i was a little disappointed with Anthony. he had no juicy goss to tell me about his weekend in Canberra, so much so i should have gone, lol. maybe next year he'll have more to tell me. he had a great time that was the main thing, heaps of "pretty" cars to look at.

i can share 1 lo i did over the weekend. all the rest are for dt stuff, but will share soon.

a little boring post from me today. i suppose i'd better go and make beds, hang washing out, clean the kitchen, make breakfasts, have a shower and dress kids and i'm sure there is a mountain of other stuff that needs to be done in the next half an hour before we leave.
have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by.

putt putt, tantrums, the mess and goals

so far so good as to how i'm going with those "goals" for 2007.
the mess has dissapeared........ well the mess that mad it impossible to make the bed on hubby's side. yesterday while i was at my mum's he cleaned it all, not totally but at 90% of it has gone, where i don't know but it's not on the floor so i don't care. also about 3 other messes in the house that he made had also dissapeared. maybe ant set new years resolutions too - NAH!!!!!!

the christmas tree came down today. it took me 3 hours cause ant was watching the cricket and my big bum was in the way! besides that i find too much work really exhausting still. i think it was more than tonsilitis.

i also started with another goal too toady. yep i dragged out that exercise bike and rode it while watching a re-run of oprah. god i hate re-runs! but i did it, worked up a big sweat and realised that i've probaly only burnt off the same amount of caleries that are in 1 can of coke and i'd already drunk 2. water for the rest of today i think.

i'm over school holidays! the fighting between my pair is unbelievable. connor's having a another phase atm, he's whinging, squeeling and screaming whenever we say no and it's so getting me down. he's back on the naughty chair for it, which he happily goes too so that's a plus i suppose.
today had connor pulling shanice's hair and shanice punching connor in the face then later both of them biting one another - GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

i'll be glad when school goes back
yesterday while at mum's we went to putt putt golf at dural. mandy came too as she is on holidays this week, which was nice. it rained and we didn't care it added to the excitemnt of it all. then more tantrums were produced in the shops after putt putt and i lost it, put my foot right down i think it went thru the levels of westfield hornsby, lol. the kids were matched out of the shops so quickly mum's and mandys heads were spinning and then there was NO macdonalds. i was hoping they would learn from their attitude, but it was back again today.

so that's me up to date.

Ant's down in Canberra now till sunday. off with the boys at the nat's (summernat's), i hope he takes piccies of the "pretty" cars for me, lol. i can only imagine what they'll get up too, but he'll tell me every juicy bit when he gets home.

time for those resolutions

i really don't like New Years Resolutions, but i like to think of mine as goals for the year, lol.
so i layed awake last night thinking of what i might challenge myself to do this year.
* not let the mess get me down
* try to exercise at least 3 times a week (i'd like to loose some weight, but hate that as a goal)
* spend more happy time with my kids
* be a better mum and focus on my kids not so much on myself (like when they ask for things or my help - be there not just say i'll do it later)
* be more organised with sending birthday cards (i've written on the calendar and put them in my compter calendar so hopefully it will work, this year i have not sent 1 card - slack)
*i'd like to scrap about 70 layouts (fingers crossed, lol)
* want to set aside special "work" hours for Scrap Girls
* to go on a family holiday to Queesland
* oh yes, to be rich, lol
PHEW!!!! let's hope i can do it.
we went to a friends house for new years last night. Jo put on an amazing spread, i think we'll expect it more everytime we go over now. we had a great time, really relazing, the kids all played really well together.
it got to about 8.30pm and shanice was still really hot with a high temp, so i managed to fob it off for about another hour before i took her and connor home. ant stayed and got a lift home with one of the other couples which was fine with both of us as we aren't real keen on new years.
so, shanice went to bed and connor came in with me. we watch planet earth. i think connor lasted about 2 minutes before he was snoring, lol. so i watched it myself.
i switched the fireworks on just as gretel and dan were saying "3,2,1 Happy New Year", timing!! so i sat there trying to rise the kids and neither stirred, so i decided to sit and watch it alone. then it hit me, and the tears didn't stop. i was so gratful the 2006 was over! it really has been a hard, shit year. all i kept thinking was 2007 has got to be better.
i'm a lot stronger for all the harder times which i am gratful for. and i now know that i can pull us thru just about everything that life decides to throw at us.
so here's to a great 2007. :)
